One might say Shy Guy Gelato and Bucci Professional go together like two peas in a pod, and to that I would say "eh, better ways of describing us". Perhaps we go together like pears and ginger in a sorbet, or golden grahams and milk in gelato. Never heard those expressions? Probably because they don't exist, just like Shy Guy and BP a few years ago.
I was lucky enough to get connected with Tim and Paul at Shy Guy in July 2015 through a good friend of mine who was working at Stone Soup (shout out to Chuck Shepp). I started taking pictures for them, documenting the fruit and vegetable peeling, stirring and weighing in copper and ceramic, wrestling and rigging the Paco Jet machine, and of course the smiling faces after trying samples in the hand made mini bowls. The pictures I took for them, people I met, ideas we bounced around, and responses I received from this, all brought a new sense of legitimacy and purpose to my photography that I hadn't really experienced before. Photography for businesses. In a small way, but in a way nonetheless, Shy Guy and BP grew together. Shy Guy has since moved from selling out of an apartment kitchen with name tag labeled pints >>> to a scoop shop on St. Paul Street + a cart on Church Street + custom merchandise, loyalty cards, a following of amazing people, and so much more.
Bucci Professional is doing some cool big stuff too these days! but ya know, it's not velvety smooth and yummy to eat. It's mostly been documenting beautiful weddings for some incredible young loves, shooting some points of interest for Realestate in Westchester, working on Carshare VT's new "what you drive..." campaign in Burlington, selling some prints that now live in Long Island and Washington DC, building an online print shop which will be dropping very soon (woah just in time for the holidays??? NICE!), and as always capturing and sharing elements of my lifestyle here on BP.
But now we're straying from the point of this post, let's dial it back. Basically I just wanted to send a huge shoutout to the good folks at Shy Guy Gelato and to wish them a stellar few winter months and continued success success success. I very much look forward to our continued collaboration in the future! If you're reading this and you haven't tried Shy Guy, it's not too late! Get your butt over to 457 St. Paul Street and enjoy some of the finest tastiest and most creative Gelato money can buy east of the Mississippi. Not that I'm aware of any good gelato out west... anyway. Maybe you'll even walk away with a Shy Guy shirt too, they're crazy soft. Check'm out on Facebook and at shyguygelato.com to learn more about their hours, flavors of the week, history, and all of that good stuff. By the way, once you go Shy Guy, you never go back, your gelato/sorbet/frozen desert standards will be elevated to a level that is nearly impossible to satisfy elsewhere. Consider yourself warned. And tell'm Nik Bucci sent ya :)
PS: Check out my latest review on the Nik page, I think it's pretty spot on.
